Furikake

Furikake is a Japanese rice seasoning - a spicy, crunchy, salty, nutty, earthy delight with a slight briny-ness from the seaweed. We use laver instead of nori as it’s from the same algae family and has the same flavour profile and better yet, it is harvested and dried by Manus at Quality Sea Veg just up the road in Donegal. It is a nutritional powerhouse, containing so many vitamins, minerals and lots of chlorophyll too! Other furikake recipes sometimes contain katsobushi (dried bonito flakes), but ours doesn’t - it’s vegan!

Delicious on rice, vegetables, eggs, mushrooms, sprinkled over chips with some Burren Balsamic white balsamic vinegar, or on cream cheese on toast!

Ingredients: peanuts (63%), nigella seeds, sesame seeds, soft brown sugar, sea salt, Nanami togarashi (chilli pepper, orange peel, black sesame seed, white sesame seed, Japanese pepper, ginger, seaweed), laver (seaweed), parsley
